The 5th Mediterranean Karate Grand Prix was successfully held in Montalto di Castro, a neighbouring city to Rome, delivering an outstanding weekend of high-level martial arts competition.
The event welcomed 420 competitors from 13 nations, confirming the growing international stature of the championship. Across 15–16 November, two major events were staged over the weekend, with many athletes taking part in both championships, demonstrating exceptional versatility and competitive spirit.
The Mediterranean Karate Grand Prix (MGP) and the European Kobudo Championships were run in parallel, with two separate competition areas and podiums, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and proper recognition of medal.
Both events were conducted under the watchful supervision of Ms. Lucienne Galea, Referee President of the World Karate Alliance.
The event was organised by the Mediterranean Karate Alliance (MKA) in close cooperation with the host organiser ASD Samurai 2000, chaired by Mr Chris Galea WKA Event Organiser. A short speech was delivered by Mr Orang Ranjbar, WKA President during the opening ceremony. The WKA Techsquad showed professionalism and dedication which delivered a competition of a standard fully recognised up to WKA level.
Following this outstanding success, MKA is already working to continue and elevate the MGP legacy under the WKA banner, with the next chapter set for Greece - marking an exciting new destination for the Mediterranean karate community.
A heartfelt thanks is extended to all athletes, officials, referees, coaches, supporters, parents, and partners whose commitment made these two prestigious events possible.
